Popular as the Rose City of Morocco, Marrakech is a beautiful historic city that offers visitors with every bit of fun and relaxation. Whether it is visiting the medina (old city) or having a refreshing time at one of the hammams, Marrakech is a great place for enjoying a halal holiday. The old city or the medina is the main attraction of Marrakech; the old city walls are painted in pink and hence the city was named as the Rose City. The old winding alleys lined with shops and small tea stalls remind visitors of the olden days. The Djemaa El-Fna is the main square in the medina and is filled with several food stalls serving authentic Moroccan cuisine. 

The museums in the city offer an insight into the royal past of Marrakech. The Marrakech Museum, the Dar Si Said Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art are the main museums to visit in the city. There are several cultural activities hosted all around the year and if lucky one can have an ear full of the traditional music. There are also some good palaces in Marrakech worth visiting. The El Bahia Palace and the Royal Palace are quite elaborate and feature fine artistry. The El Badi Palace is in ruins but still great to visit. 

Marrakech is a great place for shopping. The souks are brimming with shops selling different items. The souk close to the Djemaa El-Fna is the main shopping destination in the city. The best things to buy in the city are leather goods, rugs, fabrics, cashmere shawls, artwork, etc. There is a small shopping mall close to the Koutoubia Mosque, Ensemble Artisanal, Avenue Mohammed.

Nearby Airports

Marrakech is served by the Marrakech-Menara Airport. The airport caters to domestic as well as international flights. The airport is located about 5 Km from the city center. There is an air-conditioned airport bus that leaves every 30 minutes from the airport and costs about 30dh for a one-way travel. A little further from the car park area outside the airport terminal metered taxis are easily available.

Halal Restaurants

Finding halal food in Marrakechis never a problem; all the food available in the city is halal. The best halal restaurants in Marrakech are Dar Najat's Kitchen, Restaurant/Riad Omar, 16 café, Henna Café, Al-Fassia, Azar, Marrakech Korner, the food stalls in Djemaa El-Fna, etc.

There are several mosques in Marrakech. The most prominent mosques in the city include the Koutoubia Mosque, Ben Youssef Mosque,Mouassine Mosque, Bab Doukkala Mosque,Mosquée Sidi Abd El Aziz, Mosquée Al Massira, Mosquée Kechkouch, etc.
