The area of Al Jubail was originally a small fishing village but since 1975 the area has seen tremendous development and today is one of the best known industrial areas in not only Saudi Arabia but the entire Middle East. The city is also well-connected to other areas of Saudi Arabia by two main highways namely the Abu Hadriyah Highway and the Dhahran-Jubail Highway. The city has two main seaports, the King Fahd Industrial Seaport and the Jubail Commercial Seaport.
Al Jubail also has numerous gardens and parks where visitors can spend a lovely time with friends and family. The parks are best visited during winter afternoons when the warmth of the sun can be enjoyed the most. The Aldwi, Al Doffi Park and the Andalusia Park are the most famous parks in the city. Al Jubail is also known for its picturesque beaches. Some of the beaches worth visiting include Palm Beach, Beach Fanateer and Darren.
