Medina is the second holy city in Islam and is the site of three important historic mosques. The main site is the Masjid Nabawi, which also is the burial site of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Just adjacent to the mosque is the Jannatul Baqi, the graveyard where the family of the Prophet 0pbuh) and his companions are buried. A little further from Medina are the mountains and plains of Uhud which was the site of the Battle of Uhud. Within close reach of the Masjid Nabawi is the Masjid Qiblatayen. This masjid is where Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was commanded by Allah 9swt) to change the direction of prayers from Masjid Aqsa in Jerusalem to the direction of Ka'aba.
The nearest major airport to Medina is the Medinah Airport also know as the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport- that has flights connecting destinations all over Middle East. If you are flying into Jeddah, then you can get taxis and buses to Medina.
All the restaurants in Medina serve halal food. There are several restaurants that serve Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian, Chinese, Egyptian and Turkish cuisine. The city also has several international fast food chains like Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, KFC, Giovanni’s, etc.
There are a number of mosques in Medina apart from the most prominent the Masjid Al-Nabawi. Other mosques in the city include Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque, Quba Mosque, Al Ijabah Mosque, Masjid Jumaa Mosque, etc.
