Santiago de Querétaro is the capital of the state of Querétaro, and is commonly referred to as Querétaro. It is located in Central Mexico and is widely considered to be the crossroads of the country. The word Querétaro can be translated into "Island of the Blue Salamanders" and was voted as one of the most beautiful Spanish words.

A recognized urban city, Querétaro is considered by most to be the safest city in Mexico. Its citizens as well as it visitors are able to experience the superior quality of life that this energetic and dynamic city can offer. It has a fast-growing economy, with many industries and major firms within the city; this has attracted many poor locals in search of job opportunities.

Despite all its urbanization, Querétaro was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the retention of its Spanish Colonial days as well as elements of its indigenous Otomi people.

The main airport serving the city of Querétaro is the Querétaro International Airport which is located around 30 kilometres away from the city centre. It is a fairly busy airport in the country and can be used as a substitute airport to the main airport in Mexico - the Mexico City International Airport.
