Trakai

Description

Trakai is a small town but quite a popular destination located in Lithuania. The town lies close to Vilnius and is a great destination to spend some time in. Trakai is surrounded by exotic natural beauty and attracts thousands of visitors every year. The town is quite small and can easily be explored on foot. Visitors can also use buses or taxis to get around the town.

The Trakai Island Castle is the main attraction of Trakai. It is a 14th century castle which was rebuilt in the 15th century. It is one of the most popular castles in Lithuania and is a representation of medieval Lithuania. Another beautiful destination is the Trakai Peninsula Castle an older castle but equally beautiful. The Užutrakis Manor Estate is another majestic destination good to visit.

Trakai has numerous souvenir shops and also a retail chain that offers excellent shopping.

Nearby Airports

The nearest airport to Trakai is the Vilnius Airport. From Vilnius there are several buses available to Trakai. The journey takes about half an hour to 45 minutes.
