La Digue is amongst the largest and most populated islands of Seychelles and is known for being an extremely popular tourist destination. It is located between the Praslin Island - which is the second largest island of Seychelles - and Felicite Island and covers an area of around 10 square kilometres. 

La Digue Island is home to a population of around 2,000 inhabitants - referred to Diguois - mostly living in villages along the western coast of the island. La Passe and La Réunion are two such highly-popular villages located towards the west. Most of the population is Catholic in faith and the island is home to a number of Catholic chapels.

In addition to its beaches and wildlife, La Digue is also renowned for its cuisine - which comprises mainly seafood dishes. The climate of the island is delightfully warm throughout the year and the months of October to March are usually the months that see some rainfall.

Nearby Airports

There are no airports at La Digue Island and travelling to the island can tend to be somewhat complicated. Travellers who wish to visit La Digue will have to first take a flight to Victoria, make a ferry ride to Praslin and then travel by ferry again to La Digue. Travelling within the island itself is fairly simple and travelling by bike is one of the most popular methods of transport.

Halal Restaurants

Though Halal food in La Digueand Seychelles may not be available in abundance, there are quite a few hotels that are capable of accommodating to requests for Halal food upon prior notice. A wealth of seafood and vegetarian options will also be available throughout the country, giving travellers several options to choose from. When in doubt, Muslim travellers could always ask about how food is prepared, prior to dining.

Mosques

Roman Catholicism is the main religion of the country but Seychelles is also home to quite a few mosques. Though there are no known mosques in La Digue Island itself, some of the nearest mosques to La Digue include some of the mosques at Praslin Island such as the Islamic Foundation of Seychelles. Some of the other prominent mosques in Seychelles include the Mahe Mosque and The Islamic Society of Seychelles in Mahe as well as the Islamic Society in Victoria.
