Tromso is known as the ‘capital of the Arctic’ and is one of the most visited destinations in Norway. The city is loaded with history, culture and is surrounded by a lot of natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy a fun-filled cable car ride around Tromso and get a good view of the surrounding natural beauty. One of the main reasons for travellers to visit Tromso is the phenomenon of Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. From December to mid-March is the best time to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Tromso is home to numerous museums and art galleries. Some of the best museums in Trmso are the Tromso Museum, Polar Museum,Northern Norwegian Art Museum and the Tromsø Gallery of Contemporary Art. There are also a few good parks around the city like the Arctic Alpine Botanic Garden and the Kongeparken. Visitors to Tromso can enjoy a number of activities in the city both in the summer and the winter months.

The best place for shopping in Tromso is the Storgata Street. There are also some good shopping malls in Tromso like the Jekta and the Pyramiden. The Main Square has several souvenir shops where visitors can get a number of items.

Nearby Airports

Tromso is served by the Langnes Airport. From the airport visitors can take public buses which take around 15 minutes to reach the city and a one-way ticket costs 42 NOK. There is also an airport express bus service that drops off visitors at the city center. Taxis are also easily available from the airport to the city. A taxi ride costs around 150 NOK.
