Michamvi, tucked away towards the southeast of Zanzibar, is an idyllic beach destination offering travelers the perfect combination of pristine sandy beaches and bright sunny sunshine throughout the year. Zanzibar International Airport – also known as the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport – is the closest airport to Michamvi and is located around 30 kilometres away from the village. There are no known prominent Halal restaurants in Michamvi but due to the sizable Muslim community, Halal food will be available in the area. Muslim travellers will also be offered plenty of sea food options and vegetarian cuisine at the local restaurants but it is recommended that you enquire with restaurant owners about how food is prepared prior to dining.
Major mosques in Michamvi are not known but due to the area’s fairly large Muslim population, prayer facilities for Muslim travellers will be available. The locals in the village will be available to direct travellers to the nearest prayer facility. Travellers could also simply use the privacy of their accommodation option during prayer times.
