Habarana is the ideal base for those looking to visit Sigiriya and Dambulla as it has the nearest train station, and is also a good base for those visiting the Minneriya National Park and the Kaudulla National Park. Elephants and the lush green surroundings are the main attractions of Habarana. A visit to Habarana will therefore definitely prove to be unforgettable. Muslim visitors should be aware that locating Muslim-friendly facilities in Habarana won’t be easy.

Habarana is an incredibly popular tourist destination and is perfect for those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also ideal for animal and nature lovers as well as for history buffs. The Tank and the surrounding forest area are incredibly peaceful and will prove to be family-friendly.

While here, tourists must take a safari through the Habarana Jungle which is home to large numbers of majestic elephants. Also another tourist favorite is elephant back riding. Riding these large yet peaceful creatures allows tourists to see the surrounding breathtaking area from up high.

Minneriya National Park is a wildlife sanctuary and a popular reserve in Sri Lanka. It is also home to a selection of wildlife, including elephants. The water reservoir in Minneriya is another great place to spot wild elephants. If lucky, tourists will get to see elephants bathing while here.

Bird watching is one of the other main attractions of Habarana. Tourists will get the chance to observe numerous beautiful birds in the surrounding areas of the city. Birds of all colors and types reside here, including the stunning Peacock. Peacocks roam the area guaranteeing tourists loads of beautiful pictures.

As mentioned above, Habarana’s central location to some of Sri Lanka’s main sites is just another reason to why a visit to the city is a must. While here, tourists must pay a visit to Sigiriya. This ancient rock fortress and palace ruin is located relatively nearby and is usually an attraction on every tourist’s itinerary. The ancient kingdoms of Anuradhapura and Polanaruwa are also situated nearby.

Halal Restaurants

There are no known Halal restaurants in Habarana, as it is quite a small place. It is best for Muslim tourists to discuss it with the hotel they’re staying at. Although most hotels do not serve Halal food, some hotels may agree to serve some Halal dishes. Muslim tourists can also stick to the vegetarian dishes offered at the restaurants in the city; after making sure the dishes do not consist of any non-Halal items.

Mosques

Since the city is quite small, there are no known mosques in Habarana. Muslim tourists will have to offer their prayers in the hotel room, when possible. They can also ask the locals for mosques located in nearby areas.
