Located in the Western Province of Sri Lanka, just outside of Negombo, is the picturesque suburb of Seeduwa. Seeduwa is situated between Colombo and Negombo, and is a suburb of Negombo city. Because of its location, Seeduwa shares a large number of attractions with Negombo. Those visiting the area can use Seeduwa as a base for exploring Negombo city and the surrounding area. There is not much to see and do in the suburb of Seeduwa, but it is conveniently located near Sri Lanka’s main international airport; Bandaranaike International Airport. The island’s capital – Colombo is located about an hour away. Muslim tourists must be aware that they will find it quite difficult to locate Muslim-friendly facilities in Seeduwa.

Seeduwa is a wonderful place, with fantastic weather. During the summer months though, it does get quite hot. The climate is however ideal for those seeking a tan. The area is quite small, so visitors are sure to run out of things to do quite fast. Negombo is a quaint town that is mainly known for its centuries-old buildings and structures and for being home to one of Sri Lanka’s best beaches. This makes it the perfect place for those visiting Seeduwa to explore.

The Old Dutch Fort which was built in 1672 and is now being used as a part of the town’s prison, is a great reminder of Sri Lanka’s history. Parts of the Dutch colonial era can also be seen in the Dutch Canal; which was once used as a supply route. It is now being used by the local fisherman, and is said to be about 120 kilometres long.

A visit to the Negombo fish market is also a must. The town is said to be home to the second largest fish market in Sri Lanka. Here, tourists will get to see a wide selection of freshly caught fish and will also get to observe a fish auction.

A visit to Negombo is not complete without a visit to the beach. This pristine beach found here is incredibly peaceful and is perfect for Muslim families looking for a bit of privacy. It is said to attract visitors from all over the world, let alone Sri Lanka. The Negombo beach is home to golden sand and clear water, and is the ideal place for diving, jet skiing and swimming. While here, tourists can visit some of the many souvenir shops, and take home some unique Sri Lankan items.

The nearest airport to Seeduwa is Bandaranaike International Airport, which is the major airport in Sri Lanka. This international airport is located in Katunayake, and is about 5 kilometres from the center of the suburb of Seeduwa.

Halal Restaurants

Muslim tourists will be able to find a couple of Halal restaurants in Seeduwa. There are also plenty of Halal restaurants in the town of Negombo and the surrounding areas. While here, Muslim tourists must try out some of Sri Lanka’s signature rice and curry. The area is also known for its fresh seafood.

Mosques

Muslim visitors will be able to find a mosque in Seeduwa as well as in the surrounding areas. There are also around 5 mosques in the nearby town of Negombo. The Negombo Grand Jummah Mosque is one of the most prominent mosques in the area, and is also said to be one of the biggest in Sri Lanka.
