Halal Eateries Featured in Singapore’s Michelin Guide 2016

The Michelin Guide for Singapore features 34 eating outlets which includes restaurants and street hawker stalls that have been awarded with the Bib Gourmand rating. It has listed eateries that have received one, two or three Michelin star ratings for their outstanding food and flavour. The street hawkers who were awarded with the Bib Gourmand were happy that their trade has been given the recognition it deserves and the chosen restaurants were proud to receive this honour as well. This list includes a few great places that adhere to Halal guidelines or serve Halal food at their establishments, which heavily feature local flavours and other types of Asian cuisine too.

1. Bismillah Biryani, 50 Dunlop Street

Bismillah Biryani is a Muslim-owned restaurant known as one of the ideal places to enjoy some great Indian cuisine with dishes such as Dum biryani, kebabs and even kulfi. Some of their signature dishes of course include the Dum biriyani and the mutton biryani which are a hit with locals and tourists alike. Unlike most places that serve biryani, curry or gravy is not served with the meal. A must try place if you are looking for authentic Indian food in Singapore.

2. Hjh Maimunah, 11 & 15 Jalan Pisang

Serving delicious Kampung style Indonesian and Malay food, Hjh Maimunah is Muslim owned and has a reputation as a local favourite where customers can enjoy a variety of traditional food. Hjh Maimunah was also visited by Anthony Bourdain and was featured on his show ‘No Reservations’. They are also well-known for catering events and having regular buffets as well. Some of their signature dishes include their Sudanese Grilled Chicken, Lemak Siput Sedut and Sambal Goreng.

3. Wedang, Block 117, Aljunied Avenue 2

Wedang was previously located in the Golden Mile Food Centre and has now moved to Aljunied Avenue. This Halal street hawker is best known for serving great Indonesian food like Satay, Tahu Goreng, Gado Gado and Mee Sotong.
