Visiting the top attractions in Germany will certainly make your holiday more memorable and fun, as this European country has many interesting places with engaging activities for visitors. There are many towns and cities to visit in Germany including Berlin, Düsseldorf, Munich and Frankfurt where you can learn more about the country’s history - while enjoying some of the amazing sights and landmarks.

1. Schloss Benrath, Benrath, Düsseldorf

This enchanting Baroque-style maison de plaisance located in Düsseldorf, Germany and was built in 1770 for Elector Palatine Charles Theodor and his wife the Countess Palatine Elisabeth Auguste of Sulzbach. This castle took 25 years to build, with its beautiful gardens and Baroque style architecture. The Benrath Palace Park is also a highlight of the castle with over 80 bird species and rare Notrth American trees.

The fairytale Neuschwanstein that inspired the castle in Disney’s Sleeping beauty is located within the Bavarian Alps, and is one of the  must-visit places in Germany. Neuschwanstein was built as a retreat by Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1869. The castle looks medieval, however, it also had modern amenities of the day such as running water and heating.

The Berlin Wall is definitely one of the top attractions in Germany. Your vacation will not be complete without visiting this important monument. The fall of the Berlin Wall was a major historical event that marked the end of the separation of East and West Berlin. Today 260 feet of the wall covered in graffiti from the western side is located at the Topography of Terror, the former Gestapo Head Quarters. Other sections are located in Bernauer Straße as a memorial and along the River Spree as an open air exhibition.
