Today we went outside Bintan resorts to see how the locals live, the town and even visited the children in Pang Long Village!
We left Village Resort Grand Lagoi Bintan at 9AM & had almost an hour journey to the other side of the island. Our first stop was at a convenience store by the road to purchase some food for the children at Pang Long Village.
Once we got to the village, we saw some children playing together. It was so wonderful to see these kids so happy and carefree living their life. Their homes are not as modern or big like ours, yet they live to the fullest, grateful. Happiness sure can't be compared to wealth.
Here we saw the locals making ikan masin. Yums!

We also witnessed them making a boat. They said one boat would take about 2-3 weeks to complete depending on the size.
Then we had Nasi Padang Sederhana Restaurant for lunch. They served a lot of lauk for us on the table. I was amazed since I never had Nasi Padang before. Lol. And I still can't accept the fact that they served us chicken's brain too. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.
After lunch we took a boat to Penyengat Island. Here we visited all the makams of the late queens & kings & royalties. Who knew that the Riau people were actually the ones who invented Bahasa Melayu? Also the sultans in Selangor, Pahang, Melaka & Johor are related to Riau? Interesting, right? Seems like I have to get my Malaysian History refreshed when I get back soon.

This was when we visited Rumah Adat Melayu if I'm not mistaken. This is where the wedding ceremonies are being held at.
This is a real seahorse. It was dried & used for medical purpose. It can help to treat asthma and other disease.
Such an interesting day! Learned so many new things!
