Day 3. We got to know a little bit more about Bintan and its origins. First up we went to Berakit village to see how orang laut live their lives. When we reached, the kids surrounded us, greeted us with smiles. They were beyond happy when we brought goodies for them.
We toured around the village, looking at how the orang lauts live. Some were cooking and some were drying their catch. We then head to a place where they were making boats. I was quite in awe because with the limited technology and equipments that they have, it seems like precision is not a problem. Their boats looks so polished and well executed.
Our journey continued for another hour before we reached Tanjong Pinang. We enjoyed a sumptuous spread of padang food ar Sederhana restaurant overlooking the sea.
After lunch we took the boat to the historical Penyengat island where we toured around the island with a motorised trishaw. We went to the kings and queens memorial as according to history they were the first few people who set foot in Bintan.
Once we were back in Bintan, we went to largest mall in Bintan. Had coffee there before having dinner. We got back to The Canopi at about 8pm.
Overall we gained alot of knowledge from Day 3.
