زَوَّدَكَ اللهُ التَّقْوَى وَغَفَرَ ذَنْبَكَ وَيَسَّرَ لَكَ الخَيْرَ حَيْثُمَا كُنْتَ
Zawwadakallahut taqwa, wa ghafara dzanbaka, wa yassara lakal khaira khaitsuma kunt
May Allah make Taqwa your provision, direct you towards goodness and may He be sufficient for you in distress
Got someone near you who's planning to go on a journey soon? This dua would be perfect to recite for them. Quoted from a hadith narrated by at-Tirmidhi, this dua was recited by Prophet SAW and prayed for people who were going to travel, especially for those who were going to Umrah and Hajj. This dua also has a beautiful meaning behind it, where it wishes for the traveler's safety during their journey, while also for the family and relatives well being during the journey.
It is often recited during Umrah and Hajj as it also prays for the blessings and acceptance of the worship, in addition to the previous benefit of the recitation. The use of this dua could be traced back to the dua's meaning where it refers to and pleads for His blessings for taqwa, forgiveness for sins, and ease to the path full of goodness.
Within the same hadith, it was also narrated that during the time the companions of the Prophet SAW used to recite this dua whenever someone is going on a long journey under their requests. Therefore the dua is also recited by other people for someone who is traveling on long journeys or visiting the holy land with the purpose of Umrah and Hajj.
May the people who are going on a journey and their relatives who recited the dua be granted health, safety, and for the journey to be purposeful and filled with Allah's blessings. Amin.
