The French American Bakery (Muslim - Owned)

A relatively new bakery in the Kampong Glam area, The French American Bakery is stealing the hearts of many (including mine)! If you’re someone who does not have a sweet tooth, you will find that their pastries are delicious without being overly sweet.

Highlights: 

• Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish: Enjoy a crispy pastry with a luscious and dense custard, cut with the tanginess of the blueberry
• Pain Au Chocolat: A buttery, airy, and irresistibly delicious roll filled with chocolate
• Cinnamon Bun: Perfect cinnamon-y goodness, it might top your list for the best Cinnamon Bun in Singapore
• Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee: Light and airy vanilla custard topped with perfectly caramelized sugar

Konditori Artisan Bakes (Muslim - Owned)

Konditori is an artisan European bakery opened by the same masterminds behind Fika Cafe. First opened in 2016, they have curated their menu filled with a great variety of pastries from croissants to tarts. For those that want to get their hands on their flaky and buttery pastries, you can visit their website and order online here.

Highlights:

• Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish: The perfect afternoon treat with its smooth cream cheese balanced with the freshly cut strawberries and blueberries

Tips: They have a minimum 2-day in advance policy for online orders and the cut-off time is 6pm. If you’re heading down, make sure to avoid the lunchtime crowd by visiting before noon or around 2pm.

All Things Delicious (Halal - Certified)

They aren’t one of the newer spots on Arab Street but this quaint cafe is known for their wholesome menu. All Things Delicious has it all from delicious breakfast menus to satisfying and savory bakes. You can opt to dine in, deliver or pick up your orders through their website.

Highlights:

• Lemon Meringue: The perfect balance of tangy and sweetness in one tart
• Gula Melaka Scone: The pride and joy of All Things Delicious, the scone is just right for those that enjoy their scones on the denser side

Tip: The cafe has a relatively small seating capacity, we recommend reserving a table or to avoid the lunchtime crowd.

Mother Dough Bakery (Muslim - Owned)

Starting in 2017, Mother Dough Bakery is popular for their croissants and sourdough. Made from scratch and baked off fresh, each morning, every lover of baked goods has to try Mother Dough. You can check their website for more details here.

Highlights:

• Almond Croissant: Their best seller, don’t be deceived by how plain the croissant may seem, you will be surprised by how generous they’ve stuffed it with almond cream
• Lemon Drizzle Cake: Simple yet delightful, this treat is soft and not overly sweet

Tip: Be sure to head to their store early to get your preferred choice of baked goods available! If you drop by near their closing time, there’s a chance it might have run out as they sell fast.

Boms & Buns (Muslim - Owned)

Boms & Buns is established by Singaporean celebrity couple Syarif Sleeq and Malaque Mahdaly (also the ones behind Chulop!). The bakery serves freshly-baked choux puffs, the perfect Halal alternative for those wanting to try Beard Papa’s. Check out their website for online orders here.

Changing the desert scene with tasty and affordable tarts, Tartbox by Meenbakes is a Pakistani Muslim-owned store that opened in 2021. You can pre-order your tarts online or drop by their store! Do note that the store only does takeaways.

One of the most popular spots to get your cupcakes, Fluff Bakery was first opened in 2013 and has now moved to a larger space with a kitchen and baking area. They have also expanded their menu beyond cupcakes to include more freshly baked savory goodies. Check out their website for more details or to order online.

Shubby Sweets (Muslim - Owned)

A quaint takeaway bakery in the estates of Chai Chee. Shubby Sweets will be the paradise for sweet tooths with their brownies, blondies, cakes, and choux (yes, another one!). Their menu rotates weekly so drop by their store early to get your favs.

• Sticky Chewy Brownie: Thick chocolate layer laced with rich chocolate with that gooey and chewy consistency
