Jodipan: The Colourful Settlement In Malang, East Java, Indonesia

A long time ago, Jodipan in Malang city was a slum area located on the banks of the Brantas River. Today, the area has transformed into a popular instagrammable and halal destination. There are three appealing settlements in the Jodipan area, namely 'Kampung Warna Warni', 'Kampung Tridi' and 'Kampung Biru Arema'. Scroll down and enjoy!

 

1) Kampung Warna Warni

In English, Kampung Warna Warni means 'Colourful Settlement'. The settlement is located right on the edge of the Brantas River, just under a bridge called 'Buk Gluduk'. It all began a few years ago when a group of college students from Muhammadiyah Malang University, who called themselves 'Guyspro', received a corporate social responsibility fund from paint companies and turned this slum settlement into a colourful settlement. They did so because they wanted empower the local people living in that area.

Indeed, there are so many excellent photo spots at Kampung Warna Warni that you can take and upload onto your social media. Furthermore, if you are looking for a light meal or some snacks, you can conveniently purchase it from the local people there.

Just be prepared to perspire while visiting Kampung Warna Warni because the paths situated there are pretty narrow and hilly. Apart from that, it is easy to reach Kampung Warna Warni since it is near with Malang City Centre and Kota Baru Train Station.

Lastly, you will only need to spend IDR 5,000 to get yourself both a ticket and free key chain souvenier - how awesome is that?

Kampung Tridi (3D)

Kampung Tridi is located directly opposite Kampung Warna Warni. You may use the iconic glass bridge that leads from Kampung Warna Warni to walk to Kampung Tridi. The only downside to this is that the glass bridge is limited to 15 people at a time due to lack of space and safety purposes, so you must wait for your turn. In the meantime, you can always capture attractive photos with your camera or smartphone at the area surrounding the bridge.

This settlement offers you a unique experience which provides three-dimensional photo spots. Once you capture your photos, you can share them with your friends and family on and play eye tricks on them with your photos. Don’t worry about getting lost because there are many signpost prepared by the local people there which give you directions around the area. All in all, the best part of this settlement has got to be the tree house that allows visitors to view the landscape of the city.

Kampung Biru Arema

In English, Kampung Biru Arema means 'Arema Blue Settlement'. Arema is the most popular football club in Malang where its players wear blue jerseys. So this explains why the settlement is blue in colour. Everything - people’s house roof, wall, every corner of the settlement is blue!

Kampung Biru Arema emerged as new tourist destination in Malang city. It is located on the bank of Brantas river, just across Kampung Warna Warni. One of the greatest sights to see is the mural painted on all the walls there, which depict stories about the Arema football club.

What's more, you only need to pay IDR 2,500 per person to enter this area. So come here during your leisure time, you won't regret it!
