MIHAS - The Malaysian International Halal Showcase 2018

One of this year’s most highlighted events is the Malaysian International Halal Showcase 2018 (MIHAS 2018), which is a great platform for leaders in the Halal industry to showcase Halal products and services on an international scale. This Halal exhibition is a 4-day event that will be held from April 4th to 7th 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MTEC). Hosted by Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysia and organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) – MIHAS 2018 will be the 15th edition of the event with participants from around the world.

MIHAS is the world’s largest leading Halal exhibition that is also part of the World Halal Week programme and will be greatly beneficial to Halal professionals. Additionally, Malaysia has reached the top of the 2016 Global Islamic Economy Index, making it the ideal destination for a major event like this.

MIHAS has come a long way since its first Halal exhibition in 2004, where 330 companies from 19 countries participated in the event with over 17,000 trade visitors. In 2017, there was a significant growth where more than 500 companies participated in the trade exhibition. MIHAS 2017 was visited by more than 20,000 trade visitors from more than 70 countries – and RM709 billion generated in sales. The MIHAS 2016 trade exhibition itself saw the participation of over 30 countries where numerous Halal products were showcased from cosmetics, pharmaceuticals as well as Halal food and financial technology.

Initially, Halal food and beverage companies were mainly attracted to showcasing their products and services. But this has changed today as MIHAS has progressed much further by covering a wider spectrum in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, finance, e-commerce, logistics and Halal travel.

With over 1,000 exhibition booths, MIHAS 2018 has much to offer visitors in terms diversity when it comes to the showcasing the latest Halal products on an international level. There is expected to be an increase in 10 to 15% of visitors this year, with new location attracting more visitors too. Additionally, trade visitors who are part of the Halal industry have so much to gain from visiting MIHAS 2018 with the introduction of new sectors making their debut at the event. These new additions will encourage visitors who want to understand the Halal products sector, and will include financial and takaful services as well as Halal logistics, digital business and Halal travel.
