6 Easy But Essential Tips for a Smooth Weekend Getaway

Ever felt the urge to get up and leave, to travel to some place no matter where, just to relax and forget your woes for the weekend? All we have to say is YES!

That's a great idea! An ideal place to travel for a quick trip such as this is to a place that is closer to home. The closer the destination the less prepared you would be required to be. You could take a round-the-district road trip; where you begin from home and take a long route that ends back home the next day. Read on to find out the tips we would like to dish out to help you for a moment of this nature!

1. Plan your route well

Draw out a simple plan. You could quickly map the spots and sites you would like to stop over to refresh yourselves, rest for the night and to have meals. A good tip is to save or familiarise yourself with the route on Google, per se. Try to keep the travel distance between each destination to about 2 hours. Not too long and not too short.

2. Activities!

Make your stop for the night a place where you and your family can spend either the evening or the morning with activity. This would not only create a bond but also would create a memory that the family can always remember. If there isn't a place close by that could cater to this, then make one of the stops at a park, beach or any place with open spaces where everyone could explore. So don't forget to bring some beach balls or even board games!

3. Pack your essentials

Packing is always a problem, be it a day trip or a month-long vacation. I say, pack a few items that are an absolute must; the bare essentials and some light snacks just in case Halal food isn't an option. Don't forget to take your travel prayer mat and prayer garments along with you for your prayers. Also, be ready with a few emergency items such as a flashlight, a small first aid kit, and a pocket knife; extra bottles of water and a camera would come in handy too.

4. Fuel up

you never know when you passed your last gas station. Check the basic mechanics of your vehicle and don't take any risks. It's a change of environment you need, not a worrying mind on when the brakes would flake on you.

5. Useful distractions

Taking the kids? Make sure you have extra toys, books, and other small items handy to keep the kids busy just in case they get bored and start nagging at you.

6. Take care of the home front

Make sure your neighbor or friend knows your travelling. Keep them informed about your sudden plans.

Remember, the best way to make the most of a trip is to take whatever comes your way and make it work for you. Keep an open mind, enjoy and enrich your mind for the hectic week thereafter! We'll always feel refreshed and clear-minded after these excursions. Here's hoping that the same happens to you too!
