Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites [of worship] and accept our repentance. Indeen, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.
[Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:127-128]
This dua originated from the Al-Baqarah 2:127-128 and is recited by Ibrahim AS and his son Ismail AS right after they are done building the Kaaba in Mekkah. The dua is intended so that we and our lineage will grow as a person that would walk and surrender to Allah SWT and His orders. Reading this dua, it would be best for us to pray with our best faith while also knowing and acknowledging our good deeds and what have we done. This refers to Ibrahim AS and Ismail AS that recited this dua after finishing their good deeds which are by building the Kaaba.
Even after building the Kaaba, which is a good deed that remains up until today for Muslims, Ibrahim AS and Ismail AS still recited this dua to protect their lineage. Therefore we as an ordinary people should recite this dua daily in order to make our family and lineage as someone who follows Allah's order and blessings.
