Surah Al-Furqan Verse 65-66 Transliteration

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ٱصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا (٦٥)

Wallazeena yaqooloona Rabbanas rif ‘annaa ‘azaaba Jahannama inna ‘azaabahaa kaana gharaamaa

“Our Lord! Keep the punishment of Hell away from us, for its punishment is indeed unrelenting.

إِنَّهَا سَآءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّۭا وَمُقَامًۭا (٦٦)

Innahaa saaa’at mustaqarranw wa muqaamaa

It is certainly an evil place to settle and reside.”

Benefits and Why You Should Recite This Verse

Surah Al-Furqan Verses 65-66 talk about the characteristics of His believers. The next trait is always remembering the day of resurrection and the fear of the torments of hellfire. And those who say, "Our Lord, take away the grievous punishment of Hell from us, we are very afraid, for verily its punishment is eternal destruction." This is a very big loss for us. What is the meaning of this life if in the end we are tormented, because of our sins. Verily, Hell is the worst of dwellings and dwellings". This is a reflection for us to always remember that everything that we do during our life, would be held accountable in the end. Be it the good, or the bad will be rewarded accordingly.

People who have such a strong belief in the hereafter will certainly use the opportunity of living in this world to do good deeds as much as possible and will not do evil deeds because they believe that their deeds will be rewarded with a painful punishment. They would be begging with tears to God to be spared from the torment of the painful fire of hell. These are the reflection on how humans should follow the rules that Allah had created, to also teach humans that every action has its own consequences, and these rules are meant to be followed to create a moral human and a peaceful environment. May all of us be spared from hellfire and have our good deeds accepted by Allah. Aamiin.
