Tips for a Comfortable Long-Haul Flight
Long flights can be uncomfortable and a downright nightmare if unprepared. To ensure a pleasant trip, we have compiled a list of tips and advice that could prove to be helpful during the very long and strenuous hours of your flight. Make sure you arrive equipped for your flight. Ear plugs and eye masks will help you avoid distractions and help you get some sound sleep while travelling. Whilst some airlines do offer its passengers a complimentary amenity kit with such items, it is definitely recommended that you get yourself a few pairs if you are a frequent traveller or if you have several long-trips coming up. Getting sufficient rest is extremely important during long flights to ensure that you do not find yourself exhausted and drained halfway into your journey, which can be an absolutely horrible experience. It is also recommended that travellers move around from time-to-time as opposed to being seated for a long period of time. Not only does this help increase blood circulation, but it also kills boredom by giving you something to do. Though passengers with a window seat are often more reluctant to walk around the plane, doctors have stated that they should not let this stop them and that any traveller on a flight lasting longer than 6 hours should go for a few minutes' walk to stretch their muscles. Passengers could try to book early to ensure themselves some good seats. The seats next to the exit are usually the best spot for travellers to get some extra space and stretch out their legs during their flight. Some airlines offer these seats at an additional fee and they are worth the price for the comfort they provide. Temperatures inside the airplane can become very chilly and passengers who would prefer some warmth during their long flight could opt to bring along a jacket or extra blanket along with them. Though airlines do provide passengers with blankets, these are very thin and may not be sufficient to keep out the cold. A neck pillow is another useful item to carry along with you to ensure a comfortable plane ride. Travellers should also keep in mind that although it is very important to keep themselves hydrated at all times by drinking plenty of water, they should be very careful about what they eat during their long flight. It is best to eat light by avoiding high calorie food items and opt for high protein foods instead. Last but not least, ensure that your personal items are secure at all times. The last thing you want is to arrive at your destination and discover that some of your belongings are missing.
