Description

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport ( CCU ) is the airport of Kolkata, West Bengal. It was formerly known as Dum Dum airport. It is the biggest airport in the entire eastern India. It got renovated recently in 2009.

The Airport has 3 Terminals, domestic, international and cargo. There are 4 aerobridges, 3 aerobridges in the domestic Terminal and 1 in the international Terminal. There is a new Terminal under construction which would have both international and domestic Terminal. This Terminal is expected to be inaugurated in 2013.

Halal food availability is not known. However, there are many vegetarian food outlets and cafe's within the airport.

Transport

The airport is 17 km away from Kolkata city centre. There are Volvo buses, AC buses, normal buses connecting the airport to main parts of the city. There are also prepaid taxi cabs and car rental services available from the airport. The airport is connected to Kolkata Suburban Railway station. There are also plans for connecting 2 metro stations at the airport.

There are duty-free kiosks and gift shops.
