In the Visayan Sea, Malalpascua Island is located towards the northern tip of Cebu Island. The name Malapascua actually means ‘Bad Christmas’, and it was named so by Spanish sailors who got stranded on the island in 1520 due to bad weather. However, surrounded by the blue ocean, this is one of the ideal places to have a quiet relaxing vacation and enjoy diving or snorkeling as well. Monad Shoal is one known as only known place in the world where thresher sharks can be seen and is on the main highlights of visiting the island. There are other types of marine life that visit this site which naturally makes Monad Shoal of the best places for diving enthusiasts. A white sandy beach known as Bounty Beach is well known for as a diving site, where coral gardens and corals walls can be observed. Despite having many beautiful resorts, the island still maintains its natural charm.
