Kalutara's beaches are also excellent for swimming and quite a few areas along the beach also offer water sport activities. Plenty of private open space is available around the Kalutara beach area to make use of during prayer times. Muslim travellers who wish to visit a mosque could head towards some of the many mosques in Kalutara such as the Hill Street Mosque, Alawiyathul Naqshabandiya Mosque, Kalutara Bazar Mosque and the Kalutara Mosque which are all prominent and can be identified easily.
There are quite a few Halal restaurants in Kalutara and finding Halal food near Kalutara Beach will not be difficult. Some of the most prominent Halal restaurants are located down Mosque Road – several of which are Muslim-owned hotels. Kandoori Restaurant and Sathira Food Center in Mahamewunawa are two excellent options for Halal food and for more options, it is possible to ask some of the Muslim locals in the town who would be more than happy to recommend more eateries in the area.
