Description

There are several museums and historic buildings in Cologne. One attraction that has proven to be popular with adults and kids alike is the Schokoladenmuseum or the Chocolate Museum. Those visiting the museum can take an interactive tour and get a rare look at all things chocolate. The purpose of the museum is for people to understand the difference between the more expensive, high-quality chocolates and the more common chocolates found in stores.

Another place popular with tourists is the Cologne Zoological Garden. It is an internationally renowned zoo and is active in breeding endangered animals. One of its most favoured features is a free-flight rainforest hall with free-ranging birds and reptiles. There is also an aquarium attached to the zoo.

Cologne has several shopping streets and areas popular with locals and tourists. The Schildergasse is a shopping street in central Cologne and is the busiest shopping street in Europe. Visitors can find all kinds of stores selling jewellery, clothes and much more. Neumarkt Galerie is a popular, modern, indoor shopping mall in Cologne. It is home to a wide selection of shops and cafes.

Nearby Airports

Cologne/Bonn Airport is the international airport of Cologne. It also serves the former German capital, Bonn. The airport is conveniently located in the Cologne/Bonn Region 14.8km southeast of Cologne city centre and 16 km northeast of Bonn. There are trains and buses that connect the airport with Cologne. It is thus easily accessible by public and private transport.

Halal Restaurants

It will be easy for Muslim tourists to find Middle Eastern and Turkish restaurants while in the city. They can inquire further about Halal restaurants at the local mosque or at their hotel customer service desk.

Mosques

Cologne has a fair number of mosques. The Cologne Central Mosque hopes to be one of the biggest mosques in Europe. However, it is currently under construction so visitors will have to perform their prayers at one of the several other mosques in Cologne.
