The city is famous for its three major landmarks; Semper Opera House, Zwinger Palace and the Church of Our Lady. Dresden is also home to Bruehl Terrace, the Royal Palace, Hellerau which was the first garden city in Germany. In addition to those, some other famous attractions are the Elbe palaces and Blasewitz. Downtown Dresden also has popular shopping areas for those looking for some good bargains.
  Grünes Gewölbe is a famous, historic museum that is considered unique because it houses the largest collection of treasures in Europe. After being severely damaged in the Second World War, the museum has now been completely reconstructed. The exceptional works of art that are on display in the Grünes Gewölbe are magnificent and leave visitors speechless. It is located on the first and second floors of the western section of the Dresden castle.
Formerly a World Heritage Site in Dresden is Elbe Valley. It is one of two cultural landscapes along the Central European River Elbe. There are several natural, historical and cultural attractions tourists must visit. The famed skyline of the old town of Dresden is however, one of the main attractions. In addition to the quaint villages, the Royal Palace, the Semper Opera House, the Cathedral and the Zwinger Palace are few of the other landmarks of Dresden tourists can see. Visitors can also take a cable car ride to get a better view of the area.
The Dresden Suspension Railway also known as Schwebebahn Dresden, in German opened in 1901. It is said to be one of the oldest suspension railways in the world. The line that connects the districts of Loschwitz is 274 metres long. Visitors are treated to breathtaking, fantastic views and this is one tourist must-do when in Dresden.

Dresden Airport is the international airport of Dresden. It is located north of the city in Klotzsche, a district of Dresden 9 km from the city centre. The airport consists of one terminal building and is easily accessible by private and public transport.
