Description

Barcelona is an important city in Spain and is home to a population of over 5.7 million residents, making it one of the most populated cities in the European Union. The history of the city is associated with various legends that date back as far as the 3rd century BC and it was later inhabited by the Romans in Catalonia. A number of Roman ruins and artefacts can be witnessed in Barcelona today.

Barcelona stretches across an area of over 100 square kilometres and is amongst the most densely populated areas in Europe. The majority of the people are Roman Catholic in faith, but notable numbers of Buddhists and Muslims also reside. Visitors to Barcelona can experience a Mediterranean climate, with August being the warmest month of the year.

The city is also a tourist hot spot and has also been declared the 10th most visited city in the world, seeing millions of tourists every year. Visitors to Barcelona will never run out of options for accommodation, dining or sightseeing. A unique charm particularly known from the city is Gaudi's mosaic-style architectural works, which can be seen in Casa Vicens and Park Güell.
