Jeddah has been a port city for several centuries, which justifies its cosmopolitan charm. The city is also the main commercial center of Saudi Arabia and is known for its modern shopping districts and cafes and restaurants. The waterfront area has been developed as the Jeddah Corniche. The Jeddah Corniche is the largest in Saudi Arabia and is dotted with several restaurants and resorts.
The old city of Jeddah also known as Al-Balad is located on the southern end of the modern Jeddah. Though the old city walls have been taken down but the gates can still be seen. Throughout the area of Al-Balad visitors can see ancient buildings, coral houses and traditional souqs. The Naseef House is one of the prime attractions in the old town area. In the heart of Al Balad is the Souq al-Alawi. Jeddah also has a few amusement parks like the one on Sail Island, the Atallah Happy Land Park and the Al-Shalal Theme Park.
Jeddah offers the best shopping in Saudi Arabia. There are numerous shopping malls across the city where visitors can find a variety of items from top brands. Some of the best shopping malls in Jeddah include the Mall of Arabia,Red Sea Mall,Al KhayyatCentrew,Star's Avenue, Mega Mall, etc.

Nearby Airports

The city is served by the King Abdulaziz International Airport. It is the largest airport in Saudi Arabia and is located about 11 Km from the city center. Taxis are available from the airport to the city center. A one-way trip from the airport to the city costs around SR 50.
