So many people love to share their travel stories and reviews of the places they have been to. Since travel is such a crucial part of the millennial generation, social media accounts dedicated to travel are very popular amongst the younger crowd! Everyone wants to experience new places, find out the best places to stay at, what to do and what to eat. So here are some tips on how you can maintain an awesome Instagram travel blog!   1. Pick A Good Username Credit: Photo Mix from PixabayPick a good username which represents your content and the aesthetic you are planning to project via the blog. The right name can get you in the spotlight because people will engage with your account. Keep it consistent with all your other platforms that you use. You can also add a nice profile picture which encapsulates your vibe and have bullet points, alongside links to your email and online blog site, in your Instagram bio.   2. Maintain One Aesthetic Throughout Your Instagram Feed Credit: Quinn Kampschroer from Pixabay If you want to get an idea of an aesthetic look at famous travel accounts, observe how they have managed their layout and the captions they write. Learn some photography skills and download some photo editing apps available free. Apps like VSCO cam have filters that you have to purchase but there are many free apps like Snapseed that can help edit your photos the way you want.   3. Tell A Story With Your Photo & Caption Credit: Sasin Tipchai from PixabayPhotos tell a story by themselves but, add some extra flair with a good caption. If it’s a historical site, give some insight into its history and write your thoughts on the place. If it’s a photo of you at a restaurant about to dive into a pasta dish write something funny – wit goes a long way.   4. Only Use Relevant Hashtags Irfan Ahmad from PixabayHashtags are extremely important as they help your account get noticed. Make sure to use specific ones as well as trending travel hashtags, look at the popular travel accounts – look at the hashtags they have used. Be sure not to overuse hashtags as they may leave your caption looking messy.   5. Engage With Other Instagrammers Credit: raphaelsilva from PixabayComment, like and follow if you want more people to notice your account. Communicate with people, and it doesn’t always have to be your followers. If you notice a post that you really like, tell that person, comment about it and start a conversation, this is the easiest way to get noticed on travel Instagram. You can tag popular repost accounts on your posts as well, make sure they have a lot of followers and that your post is similar to their aesthetic. Some repost accounts may require you to pay a small fee, but there are enough and more accounts which repost for free!   6. Increase Post Frequency Credit: @halaltrip on Instagram Post as often as you can, this way your followers will see your posts on their feed regularly. • ICHIKOKUDO: You Have To Give Singapore's First Halal Hokkaido Ramen Restaurant A Try!

If you're like me, you might be really tired of having to travel all the way to Bugis for a meal whenever you happen to be around the Civil District area since that’s the nearest place where you can get a wide selection of Halal food. Well, we have great news! You can now venture to Suntec City for Singapore’s first Halal Hokkaido restaurant! Suntec City is known for having limited halal food options(other than fast food) so the existence of Ichikokudo is definitely a plus. Read more about Singapore About Ichikokudo Picture: Burpple Some backstory before we dig in—the Ichikokudo brand looks to create an authentic Hokkaido Seafood Ramen experience for its customers. Their chefs take hours daily to create the incredible broth that forms the base of their ramen. Each bowl is cooked to order to maintain consistency so you can expect to savour a rich-flavored bowl of broth and springy noodles made with the freshest ingredients. Ichikokudo's Types Of Seating Picture: Fave The restaurant offers three types of seating: Tatami-style, Ramen Bar seats, and the conventional dining area. The Tatami-style seats offer the most authentic Japanese experience but there are a couple of things that you should keep in mind before jumping into a booth. You have to remove your shoes before sitting and the lack of ventilation for your feet means it can get pungent on a rainy day after so many customers had occupied the booths before you. Tip: Do make reservations before coming down especially if you plan to dine during peak hours and weekends! You can book a table easily through their website. What To Get At Ichikokudo As you peruse the menu, do consider some of our recommendations. Trying their Ichikokudo Ramen ($9.90) is a must! This is their specialty—original authentic soy sauce ramen. It consists of clear brown broth, based on chicken and seafood with plenty of soy sauce. Think tangy, salty, and savoury, yet fairly light on the palate. Yum! We would suggest spending a little more to complete your meal with a choice of Grilled Gyoza Set ($4.50) that comes with 3 Gyozas and 2 watermelon wedges. For chicken lovers, the Chicken Karaage Set ($4.50) would suit you better. Other must-try ramen dishes include their Ichi-Smoked Duck Ramen ($12.90) and Ichi-Ramen Gifts from the Sea ($18.90). The latter boasts bountiful sea treasures (crab leg, shrimps, and scallops), aosa seaweed, seasoned bamboo shoots and shredded white leek. How rich and satisfying is that?! Picture: Ichikokudo If you’re a must-eat-rice person, this restaurant also offers a plethora of donburi dishes for you to savour. Take your pick from Japanese Garlic Karaage Don, Korean Spicy Karaage Don, and Special Tartar Sauce Karaage Don—all priced affordably at $10.90 and comes with miso soup and pickled vegetables. Don’t really want to eat fried food? Try their Grilled Donburis instead! Some recommended dishes are Teriyaki Unagi Don ($15.90) and Korean Style Beef Yakiniku Don ($13.90). If you are in a 'treatyoself' mood, you might want to order their Hokkai Special Ikura Don ($19.90). This premium dish consists of Salmon roe, pickled ginger, shredded dried seaweed, chopped green onion, white leek, aosa seaweed, and miso soup. You can upgrade your mains with their Gyoza or Karaage set. Picture: Ichikokudo The restaurant has a special part of the menu titled Teishoku for those who want to enjoy home-style, healthy, and convenient traditional Japanese meal. These are dishes like Seafood stir-fry, chicken cutlet, Japanese Beef Yakiniku, and Teriyaki Salmon. They come complete with Japanese white rice, miso soup, sliced watermelon, and pickled vegetables. Sounds heartening! The restaurant also offers dishes that are perfect for sharing. Take your pick from the wide array of sides. I personally recommend their Salmon Sashimi ($7.90) but they have Seafood BBQ for seafood lovers as well. So start making your dinner plans with your loved ones and head down to Ichikokudo at Suntec City today! Read more Halal food blogs...

  • The Top 7 Reasons to Visit Canada

Canada is often a place that tourists tend to skip over when picking vacation spots, but those people are missing out on a trip of a lifetime! Canada is a massive country with everything you could want to see and do on vacation, be it adventure or thrill-seeking opportunities, or relaxing in charming countrysides or on even on magnificent beaches. There are also many reasons why Muslims love to travel to Canada, namely, the availability of Muslim-friendly facilities and the feeling of being welcomed. Islam is the second largest religion in Canada, standing at 3.2% of the population, after Christianity. This means that there's no shortage of anything you could need to fulfil your requirements without compromising your faith Here are the top reasons to visit Canada in 2018:   1. It Has Incredible Nature & Wildlife Canada is one of the best places to witness the elegance and beauty of nature – and revel in the magnificence of Allah's creations. With brooding snow-capped mountains, incredible road trails, and craggy beaches around the country, it is any nature lover's dream come true and there is no shortage of things to do and see in Canada. Enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains that serve as a backdrop for the city of Banff, or kick back and relax on the stunning beaches of British Columbia. And let's not forget the renowned Niagara Falls in Ontario, something you definitely cannot miss on your Halal travel to Canada. And you can even see the famous natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights straight from the backyard of a home in Albert! Canada is also home to some of the world's most incredible wildlife. The vast, sprawling environments of these animals that remain unaffected by humans gives these animals a chance to thrive in their natural habitats. You can spot grizzly bears in the Great Bear Nature Tours in British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest, snorkel with beluga whales in Churchill, see Walruses in the Community of Hall Beach in the Arctic, and so much more!   2. There Are Festivals Galore Picture Credit - Not only are there amazing natural landscapes, wildlife tours, and incredible shopping in Canada, there are also plenty of fascinating festivals that take place around the country throughout the year. Taking part in these festivities gives you a chance to mingle with the locals and learn a little bit more about the culture and traditions of this fascinating country. Picture Credit: Carnaval De Quebec From comedy and art to food, children's festivals, and county fairs, there's something happening somewhere to suit your personal interests. Some of the most famous events to take place in Canada include the Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Winterlude Festival in Ottawa, the Celebration of Light festival in Vancouver, the Quebec Winter Carnival in Quebec, and so much more. Check out the local listings in the particular cities you plan to visit to see what festivals are taking place during your time of visit.   3. It Is Full of Heritage and Culture History or culture isn't exactly what a tourist think of when they think Canada, but the country has a deep a rich heritage that you can explore on your travels. The amazing part about each city in Canada is that they are all distinct and offer entirely different opportunities to explore, activities, adventure, and more. In today's world of artificially created attractions that can take away the authenticity of experiences to be had, this is truly a breath of fresh air. Explore the charm of French-speaking Quebec, which seems like a quaint town in rural France, or head to Toronto to live it up amongst the city folk. You can also experience the history of Canada by visiting these ancient Canadian attractions that have been gazetted as National Historic Sites such as Fort York and Dundurn Castle in Hamilton, Ontario, the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in Vimy, Canada, Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and more. There are also many places where you can take yourself back to the olden days and participate in activities like being a soldier for a day at the Halifax Citadel National Historical Site in Nova Scotia, or experience the culture and heritage of the Anishinaabe people at the Pukashwa National Park in Northern Ontario.   4. The Locals are Friendly The friendliness and hospitality of Canadians is often a popular theme in pop culture and TV shows, but the best part is that this theory is actually rooted in reality! Canadians are some of the most welcoming people in the world, and who better to represent this than their prime minister Justin Trudeau, who not only allowed refugees into the country but welcomed them at the airport by saying “You are home”. Not only does Canada have an incredible infrastructure, it is also one of the safest countries to travel with a relatively low crime rate. As Muslim travelers, you would not have to feel out of place because of the significant Islamic population who live here as well. You can allow yourself to be completely yourself on your Halal holiday in Canada!   5. There's Amazing Halal Food With a large population of Muslims scattered all over the country, there is no doubt that you will be able to find amazing Halal food all across the country. Obviously, there will be more options in cities with a dense population of Muslims like Ontario, but you should have a few choices no matter where you go. You can find a range of cuisines from local food to Middle Eastern, Asian, and more at food trucks to fine dining in Canada. Make sure to try the unique dish “Poutine”, which has even been touted to be the National dish of Canada, although not officially. Ask a random person anywhere in the world what Canada is most famous for and chances are, they'll tell you its maple syrup! This popular sweet condiment is made from the xylem sap of various types of maple trees. Canada is the largest manufacturer and exporter of maple syrup in the world (most of it concentrated in Quebec), which shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. There's no doubt that Canadians love maple syrup, I mean, the maple leaf is even on their national flag! Anywhere you go, you should be able to find maple syrup-themed goodies and treats, from cookies and cakes to maple-treated meats, and so much more. Make sure to try them all, and maybe even stock up on a few of them to bring back as souvenirs!
