11 Ways to Spend Time During Transit at Changi Airport

There is no reason to feel bored during a stopover in Changi Airport – as there are quite a few things to do in Changi Airport to your keep yourself occupied.

The Changi Airport amenities give travelers the chance to step back from a busy airport environment, with beautiful rooftop gardens to stroll through and areas for relaxation or entertainment.

1) The Cactus Garden, Terminal 1, Level 3

You will find this interesting rooftop garden located right beside Burger King and is one of the relaxing free things to do in Changi Airport. The Cactus Garden boasts of over 100 species of cacti and dry plants that are originally from America, Africa and Asia. Some unique plants to look out for include varieties of Cycads, Apple Cactus, Prickly Pear and Golden Barrel Cactus to name a few.

2) Aerotel’s Swimming Pool, Terminal 1, Level 3

Taking a swim during a layover is just one of the fun things to do in Changi airport. The Aerotel Swimming Pool is the only rooftop pool in Changi airport and that also has a Jacuzzi. The pool is located at Aerotel Airport Transit Hotel and is open to the public for a small fee.

3) Family Zone, Terminal 2, Level 2

The family zone is where children can remain occupied by relaxing and watching some cartoons. The playground located nearby comes with a 4-storey slide promising a thrilling time – which is definitely one of the fun things to do in Changi Airport for kids during a layover.

4) Enchanted Garden, Terminal 2, Level 2

Take a relaxing walk through the Enchanted Garden during a Changi Airport transit, where beautiful, fresh flowers and ferns come alive with magical lighting. Motion sensors are located throughout the garden which trigger blooming flowers and natural sounds. The garden also has gorgeous mosaic centerpieces that are beautifully lit.


5) The Gaming Room, Terminal 2, Level 3

The gaming room located at the Entertainment Deck is the ideal hang out spot for gamers especially during an overnight layover in Singapore. A gaming session is a fun way to pass the time, even with the children. There is an Xbox Kinetic room with sports games too.


6) Sunflower Garden, Terminal 2, Level 3

Spend some peaceful time away from a hectic environment during a Changi Airport transit - among some varieties of bright sunflowers that have been grown in Changi Airport’s very own nursery. The garden is especially beautiful when it is lit up at night.

7) Snooze Lounge, Terminal 1 & 3

Complete with comfortable seats, Snooze Lounge is one of the best places to rejuvenate yourself during a long Changi Airport transit. You can find the comfortable Snooze Lounge in Terminal 1 (Level 3) and Terminal 3 (near to Singapore Food Street).

8) Free Singapore Tour, Terminal 2 & 3

During a Changi Airport transit, why not take a free city tour of Singapore? The transit time should be at least 6 hours since the tour will be 2.5 hours long with 2 short stopovers. The heritage tour is especially recommended as you will get to see cultural landmarks and places in Singapore, including Masjid Sultan. You can head over to the tour kiosks in Terminal 2 (Level 2) or Terminal 3 (Level 2) to register for the free Singapore tour.

9) Movie Theatre, Terminal 2 & 3

Those who are wondering what to do in Changi Airport during long transit can consider watching some of the latest movies for free in a movie theatre. Movie fans will be pleased to know that the theatres, located at Terminal 2 (Level 3) or Terminal 3 (Level 3), are open 24 hours a day. 

10) Butterfly Garden, Terminal 3, Level 2 & 3

This unique rooftop garden in Changi Airport is the world’s first airport butterfly garden. Tired travelers can enjoy the beauty of nature with 1,000 species of tropical butterflies surrounded by greenery. The garden also contains educational corners and individual enclosures.


11) Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms, Terminal 2 & 3, Level 2

Muslim travelers will be able to pray in any of the Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms during their Changi Airport transit. These rooms are also available at Terminal 1, but are currently under renovation. The prayer rooms at terminal 3 are located behind Mont Blanc and prayer rooms at terminal 2 are located behind Relay.
