Known for their affordable, halal-certified burgers with gourmet vibes, Burgs has built a strong rep over the years. With outlets conveniently located around Singapore, they’re one of those spots that’s great for quick meals, chill hangs with friends, or even a satisfying solo lunch.
We recently dropped by their new outlet opening this week on 23 May at 16 Bussorah Street, and let’s just say, we left very satisfied. From melty beef burgers to sweet endings like mango sorbet and banana pies, here’s everything we tried, and what’s worth ordering.
First up, we got a can of their homemade Black Lemonade ($4.90). We were a bit skeptical of it at first, but it was surprisingly refreshing! It had a tangy flavour of mixed berries, specifically blackberries, and although it was carbonated, the usual fizz was quite mild and barely noticeable, which we preferred since we usually didn’t enjoy gassy drinks.
Next, we tried their Signature Fries ($5.90). These come topped with chilli cheese sauce and deep-fried mushrooms (we weren’t entirely sure, but they tasted great). While it wasn’t mind-blowing, this is the kind of snack that’s addictive and made for sharing; perfect if you’re in a group and want something to munch on while waiting for your mains.
Now this one caught us by surprise. These Nuggies ($4.80) aren’t your basic nuggets, but more like mini boneless tenders: super crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. It was so juicy and easy to bite through that it quickly became addictive. They come with a variety of dipping sauces too, which really sealed the deal.
The sauces came with the appetisers above, and Burgs gives you a mix of flavours: there’s mayo, cheese, kicap sambal (which has a sweet-spicy kick), and peanut butter. The peanut butter sauce was the wildcard; it tasted like the usual peanut sauce you’d get alongside satay (minus the nuts), and it was surprisingly fun to dip into, especially with the Nuggies. It’s a hit or miss, but great if you want to mix things up or try something a bit different.
Their Original Burger ($11.90) is a beef cheeseburger with caramelised onions and pickles, and we’re still dreaming about it. The patty was juicy, the cheese was perfectly melty, and everything just came together in the best way possible. It’s simple, but executed so well. Every bite was soft, flavourful, and downright addictive. If you only try one thing at Burgs, make it this.
Next, we tried the Big Bird ($11.90), a spicy chicken burger with purple cabbage slaw. It was a little messy to eat, but still enjoyable. The chicken was crispy, the sauce gave it a nice heat, and the slaw added a refreshing crunch. While it didn’t blow us away like the beef burger, it’s still a solid pick, especially if you prefer chicken.
After all that fried, cheesy goodness, this was a game changer. The Mango Sorbet ($4.90) was light, refreshing, and actually tasted like real mango, and not the artificial, overly sweet kind. It even came with bits of either fresh mango or nata de coco (we were too busy enjoying it to double-check). Either way, this was the perfect palate cleanser and a must-order if you need a cooldown, especially with Singapore’s weather.
Ending on a sweet note, we tried their Banana & Peanut Butter Pie ($3.90). This is a crispy turnover stuffed with a thick, gooey banana-peanut butter filling. Fair warning: it’s super sweet, and gets a little sticky and messy, but if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll love it. The peanut butter does overpower a bit, but we didn’t mind it.
With Burgs having their grand opening this Friday on 23 May, they’ve lined up some exciting promotions you just can’t miss!
If the food wasn’t enough to convince, these deals are simply too good to pass up.
Burgs isn’t trying to reinvent the burger, it’s just doing it really well. The food is hearty, flavourful, and although the price point may be a little bit too high. The beef burger was the standout, while the desserts, especially the sorbet, were fun, tasty surprises.
One thing we really appreciated about Burgs is that it has a prayer room on the second level, making it a convenient option for Muslim diners. Whether you’re popping in for a full meal or just chilling with friends, it’s a thoughtful touch that makes the space even more welcoming. They’ve also teased that they’ll be having monthly DJ nights- so definitely stay tuned for those as well!
It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for sharing, trying different things, and just enjoying good food with good company. So if you’re in the mood for a laid-back burger fix that won’t disappoint, Burgs is definitely worth a visit.
