Fusion food can be a hit or miss, but Epicurean Fusion Restaurant, a new player in Singapore’s ever-evolving food scene, makes a strong case for mixing bold Asian flavours with classic Italian staples.
The restaurant’s concept leans fully into combining techniques and ingredients from both culinary traditions to create dishes that feel fresh, intentional, and surprisingly cohesive. The menu is filled with original dishes, and is fully crafted by its executive chef, Chef Dipak, who’s worked with Italian cuisine for almost a decade, and wanted to reimagine these well-loved dishes into something new and exciting.
With a menu that boldly fuses Italian classics and Asian flavours, this sleek, modern eatery delivers a unique experience that somehow makes sambal, gnocchi, and tandoori spices play nice on the same table.
We started with the Gnocco Fritto ($15.90), a traditional Italian fried dough snack that’s usually light and fluffy. The outer crust was crisp and firm to the bite, giving way to a warm, soft interior, filled with surprisingly spicy beef and ricotta cheese. What really stood out was the spicy mayo it came with- creamy, tangy, and packing enough heat to wake up the palate without being overwhelming, while somehow also soothing the spiciness from the beef inside the gnocco.
The combination of textures and the gentle burn from the food made this a fun and addictive appetiser. It’s one of those snacks you could easily polish off while chatting without even realising.
The Tandoori Chicken Pizza ($18.90) came out next, and it immediately grabbed our attention with its dark, charcoal-based crust. Some pizzas that stray from the usual toppings tend to be disappointing, but this pizza exceeded our expectations!
Every slice was loaded with gooey, melty goodness that stretched with every bite. The tandoori chicken was well-marinated, delivering a robust blend of spices that paired surprisingly well with the sweetish tomato base. The crust was thin but had enough bite to hold up the generous toppings, and the whole thing was hearty enough to easily satisfy two light eaters or one very hungry diner.
Last but not least is the Gochujang Pasta ($21.90), which was described to us as a lighter take on carbonara with an Asian twist. Instead of the usual rich cream and bacon combo, this dish used a mildly spicy gochujang-based cream sauce and tender chicken strips. The result? A creamy, umami-forward bowl of pasta that had just enough heat to keep things interesting, without overpowering the rest of the dish. It’s less indulgent than traditional carbonara, which makes it feel easier to finish; perfect for those who want comfort food without the post-meal food coma.
Epicurean Fusion might be new on the block, but it’s already found its voice. While the dishes might sound unconventional on paper, they’re thoughtfully executed and surprisingly balanced. The chef’s commitment to crafting an original menu to serve unique, exciting dishes really comes through in each dish. Instead of clashing, the Asian and Italian influences complement each other, creating flavour profiles that feel both novel and comforting.
While the price range may be a little higher than average, we think that it’s justified for the quality of the food, and how large the portions are; it’s definitely worth a try at least once! The menu also seems to be designed with sharing in mind, so why not have a celebratory dinner here with some family and friends?
Whether you're a die-hard Italian food lover or just someone who enjoys bold flavours, there’s something here that’ll catch your attention. So if you’re looking to break out of your usual pasta or pizza routine and try something with a little more edge, Epicurean Fusion Restaurant is well worth a visit.
