Thank You For Your Support in Ramadan 2019!

“The best among you are those who bring greatest benefits to many others”

– Hadith Related By Imam Al Tabarani

Alhamdulillah, Ramadan 2019 is our second year running the #PledgeYourLunch campaign.

Last year, our campaign raised $6,215 in total for our beneficiaries – Cahaya Surya Bakti in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and Free Food For All (FFFA) in Singapore. We hope that this year will be an even better year for #PledgeYourLunch as donors from all over the world contribute to this campaign.

This year, we are reaching out to a society that focuses on empowering individuals with mental health issues. At the same time, we are still showing our support to the Rohingya children seeking refuge in Malaysia.

What is #PledgeYourLunch?

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world fast from dawn to dusk and skip their usual lunch routine. Thus, the #PledgeYourLunch campaign serves as a fundraising project which focuses on channeling people’s lunch money to those who need it more.

So why not channel our lunch money for a better cause?

It is during this fasting month that Muslims try their best to be a better version of themselves by committing good deeds, be it through charity, ibadah (act of worship) or acts of sunnah (following the acts of Prophet Muhammad). So with millions of Muslims fasting around the world, we can only imagine the impact of charity on those who are less fortunate.

Putting aside your lunch money for one day for charity might not seem like anything significant but what if we put aside our lunch money for a whole month and channel it to things that actually matter? Like providing education for Rohingya children refugees and supporting those with the desire to be confident in today’s society.

A normal lunch meal in a Singapore hawker center would cost nowhere above $10. By the end of Ramadan, one individual could save up to a whopping $300! So you see, your $10 today could go to a student’s school fees for a month and your $15 tomorrow could go to ensuring that a student is equipped with school supplies for an entire year.

As we all try to improve ourselves this Ramadan, let’s put our focus on others as well. Let's do our part by helping the Rohingya children get the education they deserve and making sure that individuals with mental health issues receive unconditional love from society.
