The conflict in Ukraine has forced many civilians to go through a hard time. With civilian casualties and the destruction of their homes and infrastructure, people are forced to flee and seek refuge and assistance elsewhere.
2,504,893 is the number of refugees fleeing Ukraine as of 11 March 2022. As a result of the military operations against Ukraine, as many as 2.5 million refugees have been forced to flee Ukraine. In addition, 1.85 million people have also been displaced internally within the country. UNHCR estimates that 12.65 million people have been affected by the war.
The conflict has brought in a steep rise in humanitarian needs from within Ukraine as well as the neighboring countries that are receiving refugees. In light of this humanitarian emergency, UNHCR and other NGOs are working together to ensure safe access for the refugees fleeing Ukraine.
