Ramadan 2023: The Month of Increased Spiritual Reflection

Ramadan is a sacred month that brings with it a time for spiritual reflection and charitable upliftment. It is a month when Muslims worldwide devote themselves to self-discipline, empathy, and increased devotion to Allah. During this holy month, Muslims engage in various worship activities such as reciting the Qur'an, performing obligatory and voluntary prayers, and giving charity.

In this infographic article, we explore the significance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual and charitable upliftment, the increase in worship activities during the month, and how Muslims can join in the spirit of Ramadan by practicing self-discipline, reflecting on their spirituality, and spreading kindness and generosity to those in need.

Spiritual & Charitable Upliftment

Ramadan provides an opportunity for us Muslims to reconnect with our faith and intensify our spiritual practices. We are encouraged to increase our prayer and recitation of the Holy Qur'an during this month. The month is also characterized by the performance of Taraweeh prayers, which are additional voluntary prayers offered after the night prayer. That is why Ramadan sparks a rise in spirituality that most take advantage of, by being consistent and timely in their worshipping activities and to get the most out of the blessed month.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."

(Sahih al-Bukhari 1901)

Furthermore, Ramadan is a time when Muslims are more empathetic towards the poor and the needy. The act of fasting encourages us Muslims to experience the suffering of the less fortunate and to become more conscious of their needs. This increased awareness of the plight of others often results in more charitable acts during the month of Ramadan.

Qur'an, Prayer, & Charity

Our research indicates that 59% of Muslims will spend more time reciting the Qur'an, with about a quarter trying to recite the Holy book from cover to cover at least once during the month. The majority of them will also try to be consistent in their five daily obligatory prayers (68%) and perform Taraweeh salat in congregation (51%). In addition, 31% of the respondents said that they will give their Zakat and lots of Sadaqah during this month.

Join Muslims around the world in the spirit of Ramadan by practicing self-discipline, reflecting on your spirituality, and spreading kindness, also generosity to those in need.
