Despite being one of the ten most significant nations in the world, few tourists have included Kazakhstan on their bucket list. Whether it's due to its beauty or quirkiness, the nation is full of undiscovered gems that will wow you. 

The best part is that you won't have to share these stunning locations with many other tourists because Kazakhstan's tourism industry still needs to grow.

This enormous Central Asian nation should be on your travel bucket list if you're adventurous and enjoy discovering new, incredible, and gorgeous places. So where should one go in Kazakhstan? What should you do, and where should you go while visiting Kazakhstan?

Most visitors stop at Almaty when they first arrive in the country, which is unfortunate because there are some fantastic spots in other regions. Ile-Alatau National Park in Kazakhstan is an excellent destination for exploring nature. The park has a variety of attractions to choose from - from its snow-capped peaks, perfect for experienced mountaineers and trekkers, to the gorgeous walled city of Turkestan, one of Central Asia's oldest cities with its many beautiful monuments. 

Those looking to enjoy wildlife will appreciate the lush green mountains of Ile-Alatau that provide ideal habitats for ibexes, lynxes, wolves, and many species of birds. With so much to do and see, it's no wonder that Ile-Alatau National Park is considered one of Kazakhstan's greatest attractions!

One must-see attraction in Kazakhstan is the Ascension Cathedral, located in Almaty. This beautiful 19th-century Russian Orthodox cathedral features detailed frescoes and iconography on the interior and an impressive bell tower at 68 meters tall. 

Visitors to the cathedral can join a guided tour to learn more about its history or picnic in its lush gardens surrounded by centuries-old trees. Those visiting can also spot various birds, including storks, that have made this area their home. 


4. Kolsai Lake Kazakhstankolsai lake

Kolsai Lake is one of the many hidden gems that Kazakhstan has to offer. Located in the Almaty region, Kolsai Lake is a group of three lakes separated by forests and meadows. Each lake is a different shade of blue and emerald green, and an incredibly picturesque landscape surrounds all with snow-capped mountains and lush valleys. 

Visitors can enjoy a peaceful boat ride, hike along the trails, or take in the breathtaking views from one of the many observation platforms. Those looking for a more thrilling experience can rent all-terrain vehicles to explore these mountainous landscapes and uncover even more stunning sights.


5. Hazrat Sultan Mosquehazrat sultan mosque

Visitors can learn about Kazakhstan's culture at the Hazrat Sultan Mosque, another great attraction in Kazakhstan. This impressive mosque was completed in 2012, but its design draws inspiration from the 15th-century Timurid Empire. 

The exterior features detailed calligraphy and colorful mosaics, while the mosque's interior is a calm oasis filled with intricate woodwork and bright glass lamps. Visitors can join guided tours to learn more about the architecture or admire the beauty of this magnificent building.
