Ox Gorge is a narrow valley located about 30 kilometres away from Guilin City and is quite a popular attraction around Tianzhu, particularly amongst travellers who opt for the Li River Cruise along the Li River. The Ox Gorge gets its name from the many hills in the area that are shaped in the figure of an ox. Certain hills are also believed to resemble various other animals such as horses, lions and tigers. The main scenic spots of Ox Gorge include the Xianfuyingbin, Grassland Girl and Dragons Play with Water areas, which are a series of cliffs and rocks that take on fascinating forms. The history of the Ox Gorge dates back to the Ming Dynasty and when Xu Xiake - a famous traveller - visited the area. At present it is a prominent place-of-interest in Tianzhu.
