Bentota's beaches are its main attraction. Bentota beaches are considered to be some of the finest beaches in the country and are extremely popular amongst both tourists and locals alike. The stretches of golden sand beaches extend for several kilometres and are lined by shady palm trees along the coast. The Bentota Beach is also an excellent area for water sports such as diving and windsurfing and is visited by numerous water sport enthusiasts throughout the year. Due to its popularity as a tourist spot, travellers will be offered a wide range of accommodation options - ranging from luxury resorts to budget hotels. The beach is also visited regularly by turtles and lucky travellers might be able to sight a few who visit the beach to nest.

Plenty of private space will be available around the Bentota Beach area to make use of during prayer times. Muslim travellers who wish to visit a mosque will have to travel to some of the mosques in Beruwela – the neighbouring town of Bentota which is located about 6 kilometres away.
Finding Halal food in Bentota can be relatively difficult since most Halal restaurants in Bentota are road-side shops, with prominent eateries being few in number and hard to spot. However some established hotel chains such as AVANI Bentota Resort & Spa and the Bentota Beach Hotel do serve Halal food on request. Muslim travellers could also visit the neighbouring town of Beruwela – which is home to quite a large Muslim population – for more dining options.
