A must-visit for those looking to truly experience Chicago is the Navy Pier. This 1000 metre long pier was built in 1916 on the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan. The activities offered here are great for kids and adults, therefore making it Chicago's number one tourist attraction. Navy Pier is home to a variety of fantastic restaurants, beautiful gardens and numerous attractions and activities for young and old, including the Pier Park, an IMAX theatre, the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows and the Chicago Children's Museum. The Pier Park is an amusement park that houses a 150 foot Ferris wheel; which offers incredible views of Lake Michigan and Chicago, as well as a miniature golf course, a musical carousel, and a number of other fun rides and attractions for the entire family. Those visiting the pier during summer months will also get the opportunity to take a tour of the area on one of the sightseeing or dining boat cruises available. Navy Pier is the ideal family destination; therefore a trip to Chicago is not complete without a visit to this popular attraction.
