Description

Osaka was formerly known as Naniwa and was once the capital of Japan. The city features some great attractions and sightseeing opportunities that visitors can enjoy. The city is a great place for the entire family to have fun. The Universal Studios is a well-known theme park located at the Osaka waterfront. The Osaka Aquarium is another great place to have fun; it is one of the most striking aquariums in the country. The Umeda district is the city center of Osaka and is an exciting place.
The Osaka Castle is one of the most important landmarks in the city and is a reconstruction of the older castle. To know more about the history of the area, visit the Museum of History. The National Art Museum and the Osaka Science Museum are also worth a visit. Just outside Osaka is the Minoo Park which is a forested area with beautiful waterfalls. For those who wish to get a nice view of the city surroundings, the observation deck at the Umeda Sky Building is a good place to visit.
The Shinsaibashi District in Osaka is a popular shopping destination. There are several departmental stores and high-end shopping options in this district. Umeda too has some wonderful places where visitors can shop for souvenirs and other items. The Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street in the city is the longest covered shopping street in the country, where shoppers can find a wide variety of items.

Nearby Airports

The main entry to Osaka is through the Kansai International Airport. The airport is connected to the city via two rail connections namely the Kansai Airport Line (JR West's) and the Nankai Electric Railway, which is a private line. The domestic flights land at the Osaka International Airport also known as the Itami Airport. This airport is connected to the city by the Osaka Monorail but is quite expensive. The airport is also connected by the Airport Limousine Buses which cost around ¥500-600 for a one-way trip. A taxi from the airport to the city costs around ¥4000apart from the ¥700 roadtoll.
