Sa Pa

Description

Sa Pa is among the most visited destinations in Northern Vietnam. Travellers to Sa Pa have several options of adventure and cultural trips. The town is located in the Lao Cai Province and the best time to visit the town is during the spring or autumn time. The surrounding mountains and valley offer visitors with numerous opportunities of hiking and trekking. The neatly placed rice terraces around Sa Pa are worth seeing. 

The Sa Pa Lake located in the heart of the town makes a wonderful destination to enjoy boating and picnics. Walking around the town gives visitors a peek into the history and lifestyle of the locals. One can see French colonial villas dotted across the town. There are several small villages in the surroundings of Sa Pa that are great to visit. About 18 Km from the town center is the Remote Sa Pa Valley which makes an excellent place to enjoy some adventure. 

Trinkets, handicrafts, embroidery items and hand stitched clothes are some of the things that visitors can buy in the town. There are several markets that can be found around the town. Local women can often be seen stitching traditional clothes.

Nearby Airports

The closest major airport to Sa Pa is the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi. From Hanoi visitors can take a train to reach Sa Pa. The train journey takes about 9 hours. A one-way ticket from Hanoi to Sa Pa by train costs around USD 45. Buses are also available from Hanoi and can cost between 400,000 to 450,000 VND.
