  • Travel In The Future: Travel Trends You Should Look Out For In 2020

Halal tourism is a booming market, expanding rapidly in the global trend. The demand is speculated to increase in years to come as the Muslim population around the world is growing. We have seen how some destinations have embraced the Halal tourism trend by ensuring they are Muslim friendly, providing Halal cuisine and the information needed for one to consider when traveling. Let's have a look at some of the travel trends that you should look out for in 2020! via GIPHY 1. The "Muslim Social Impact Travel" Spirit Credit Image: Annie Spratt on Unsplash  Islam has taught us to foster good relations with our society. We are taught to care for the less fortunate, extending help and charity as much as possible. Leading a balanced life and being eco-friendly without causing harm to nature is also in tune with Islamic beliefs. The younger generation seeks to make more cultural and social impact when travelling instead of just travelling for leisure. Apart from having a fun trip, they want a trip that adds values and make meaningful experiences. These trips enable them to give back to society, making a positive impact and minimize harm to the environment.Opting to buy from local businesses over large corporations is an example of keeping this spirit alive. In this manner, the skills and livelihood of locals are recognized and valued. Combining travel with volunteering has been made possible too. An organization like WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) links volunteers to farmers in building a sustainable community. How else can you attain an enjoyable yet fulfilling trip with incredible learning experiences?  With the rise of this travel spirit, service providers that implement travel packages that align with social values are more likely to attract a greater pool of audiences.  2. Catering Off-track Destinations to Muslim Travelers Credit Image: Andreas Wagner on Unsplash Over-tourism can be a factor for popular destinations to lose its hype. More and more travelers are searching for the less-traveled destinations, away from tourist hotspots. These destinations are less crowded and often provides a more authentic experience. The fact that it is untainted by tourists may be attractive to Muslim travelers as they are more attracted to a unique and exotic experience before they become mainstream. However, the setback of travelling to these destinations lies in certain travel considerations of a Muslim traveler, like the ability to find Halal food.  An example of an off-track destination is Brunei. Brunei receives approximately 259,000 visitors annually, which makes it a less-traveled destination. Brunei will be a perfect destination for a Muslim traveler as they cater to the Muslim travel needs. With these consumer preferences in mind, destinations may have to embrace the diverse needs of travellers in order to continue attracting them, which includes catering to the faith-based needs of Muslim travellers. 3. Overcoming Islamophobia  Credit Image: T. Chick McClure on Unsplash The issue of Islamophobia is no longer foreign to most of us. We have seen how it has elevated to hate crime in certain parts of the world. It might be a concern for a Muslim traveler to consider going on a trip to destinations where Islamophobia is widespread. Like any other travelers, safety and security are a priority for Muslim travelers.  As we enter Halal Travel 2.0 with technology as an important driver, we find that more Muslim travelers are able to make meticulous decisions with regards to their next destination. This is attributed to the increase in digital tools as well as the effect of technology in making the world more interconnected. We can get information within seconds with official news channels and social media. The unlimited information obtained through social media and official news sites thus assures both current and future travelers when making informed decisions for their next destination. This becomes important as destinations continue to provide more Muslim-friendly services and are dedicated to improving the local climate for travelers.  4. The Global Travel Wallet Credit Image: Jonas Leupe on Unsplash As mentioned earlier, technology continues to influence our daily life. Advanced security in face recognition and thumbprint technology makes e-wallet and mobile payment possible. It has gained popularity amongst travelers, providing ease while guaranteeing safety. More merchants are making digital payment methods available, promising efficiency, security, and convenience for travelers.Muslim travelers can thus enjoy digital transactions without worries as FinTech companies offer value-added service. Traditional banks understand the need for e-commerce payment transactions for their Muslim clients, thus motivating them to introduce financial services to facilitate travel needs.  5. Drivers of Muslim Female Travelers Growth Credit Image: Noorulabdeen Ahmad on Unsplash With almost 45% of the Muslim travel market comprising of Muslim women, we can expect to see more activities caterred to this group of travelers. According to another report by Crescentrating published last year, two-thirds of the women travelers are below the age of 40. • Manners & Dua Series | Prophetic (SAW) Practices, Azkar and Dua For When You Wake Up In The Morning

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ As we continue to face challenging times, we need to strengthen our relationship and remembrance of Allah (SWT) in everything we do.  Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has taught us not just Azkar and Dua(s) but also the practices for almost every occasion of our daily life. Being consistent in reciting these Azkar and following his (SAW) sunnah will greatly benefit us in this world and the hereafter.   At HalalTrip, we are starting this new series of posts on the essential Azkar/Dua and manners that all of us should strive to practise, memorize, understand it’s meaning, internalize and be consistent in implementing them in our daily lives. The first post will be on the very first thing we do to start our day, i.e. wake up in the morning. We wake up because Allah (SWT) through his mercy has returned the soul to our body. Should we not be grateful for that? So here are some of the practices of the Prophet (SAW) and the Azkar he recited as he woke up.  The Three Knots Image credit: Manuel Sardo on Unsplash Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, 'The night is long, so stay asleep.' When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone, and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart." (Sahih al-Bukhari) "If You Are Straight, We Are Straight" Image credit: Masjid Pogung Dalangan on Unsplash Narrated Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri (RA): That the Prophet (SAW) said, "When the son of Adam wakes up in the morning, all of his body parts bow to the tongue and say: 'Fear Allah regarding us, we are only part of you. If you are straight we are straight and if you are crooked we are crooked." (Jami`at-Tirmidhi) Wash Your Hands Image Credit: Geetanjal Khanna on Unsplash Narrated from Salim from his father (RA): The Messenger of Allah said: "When anyone of you wakes up from sleep, he should not put his hand into the vessel until he has washed it." (Sunan Ibn Majah) Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): When anyone amongst you wakes up from sleep, he must not put his hand in the utensil till he has washed it three times, for he does not know where his hand was during the night.   (Sahih Muslim) The Morning Routine of the Prophet (SAW) Image credit: Ali Hegazy on Unsplash Narrated Ibn Abbas (RA): I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt Maimuna (RA). Allah's Messenger (SAW) talked with his wife for a while and then went to bed. When it was the last third of the night, he got up and looked towards the sky and said: ‏إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلاَفِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لآيَاتٍ لأُولِي الأَلْبَابِ‏  "Verily! In the creation of the Heavens and the Earth and in the alteration of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding." (Qur’an 3.190). Then he stood up, performed ablution, brushed his teeth with a Siwak, and then prayed eleven rak'at. Then Bilal pronounced the Adhan. The Prophet (SAW) then offered two rak'at (Sunna) prayer and went out (to the Mosque) and offered the Fajr prayer. (Sahih al-Bukhari) Narrated Ibn Abbas (RA): Once I passed the night in the house of Maimuna (RA). I slept across the bed while Allah's Apostle and his wife slept length-wise. The Prophet (SAW) slept till midnight or nearly so and woke up rubbing his face and recited ten verses from Surat "Al-`Imran." Allah's Messenger (SAW) went towards a leather skin and performed ablution in the most perfect way and then stood for the prayer. I did the same and stood beside him. The Prophet (SAW) put his right hand on my head, twisted my ear and then prayed two rak'at five times and then ended his prayer with witr. He laid down till the Mu'zzin came, then he stood up and offered two rak'at (Sunnah of Fajr prayer) and then went out and offered the Fajr prayer.  (Sahih al-Bukhari) Narrated Hudhaifa (RA): When the Prophet (SAW) went to bed, he would say:  ‏ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا (Bismika amutu wa ahya) “In Your name, O Allah I live and I die”  and when he got up he would say: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ (Al-hamdu li l-lahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilaihin-nushur) “Praise be to Allah, Who has given us life-after causing us to die, and to him is the Resurrection” (Sahih al-Bukhari) "If You Take My Soul" Image credit: Becca Schultz on Unsplash Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “When one of you leaves his bed then returns to it, then let him brush it off with the edge of his ¹Izar three times, for indeed, he does not know what succeeded him upon it after him. When he lies down, let him say: بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ فَإِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ (Bismika rabbī waḍa`tu janbī wa bika arfa`uhu, fa’in amsakta nafsī farḥamhā wa in arsaltahā faḥfaẓhā bimā taḥfaẓu bihī `ibādakaṣ-ṣāliḥīn) “In Your Name, my Lord, I lay my side down, and in Your Name I raise it. And if You take my soul, then have mercy upon it, and if You release it, then protect it with that which You protect Your righteous worshipers” And when he awakens, let him say:  الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي فِي جَسَدِي وَرَدَّ عَلَىَّ رُوحِي وَأَذِنَ لِي بِذِكْرِهِ (Al-ḥamdulillāh alladhī `āfānī fī jasadī wa radda `alayya rūḥī wa adhina lī bidhikrih). “All praise is due to Allah, Who healed me in my body, and returned to me my soul, and permitted me to remember Him” (Jami'at-Tirmidhi)  1.
