Washington DC is one of the premier travel destinations in the United States. The city features a plethora of attractions that draw visitors towards it. From the Capitol Building to the White House and the Lincoln Memorial there are numerous interesting monuments and memorials that are worth visiting in the city. For culture enthusiasts Washington offers a wide range of museums and art galleries that showcase the culture and tradition of the nation.

The 2-mile stretch of National Mall known all around the world is the main attraction in the city. The stunning sculpture of Abraham Lincoln is definitely worth seeing and so are the Washington Monument and the National Gallery of Art. The city also has numerous parks and the Roosevelt Island is also within close reach. The National Zoo, National Arboretum and the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens make beautiful places to visit.

For people who love shopping, Washington comes as a surprise to them. From vintage shopping to high-end modern shopping and stylish boutiques the city has numerous choices. Georgetown, Eastern Market, Adams Morgan, U and 14th streets are some of the best places to shops. The city also has several wonderful shopping malls like the National Mall.

Nearby Airports

There are three main airports that serve Washington DC namely the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the Washington Dulles International Airport and the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.  All the three airports offer good connectivity.

The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is the nearest airport to the city. Blue and Yellow metro lines stop at the airport and a trip to downtown costs just $2. A trip to downtown by taxi costs around $15. The Washington Dulles International Airport is located 26 miles west from the city. Metro buses, coaches, taxis and shuttles are available from the airport to the city.  The Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is located about 30 miles northeast from the city and is also connected by buses, metros, taxis and shuttles.
