The capital city of Belgium - Brussels - is also the largest city in the country and is a popular tourist attraction amongst travellers to Belgium. Covering an area of over 160 square kilometres, Brussels is home to a vibrant population of over a million inhabitants, including a large Muslim community.

Nearly 70% of the city's population comprises individuals of foreign origin and it is home to large numbers of people of Turkish, Moroccan and Sub-Saharan African origin. Though majority of the population is Roman Catholic in faith, it is estimated that quite a large percentage of the city's population comprise those of Muslim faith.

Brussels is also renowned for its art and cultural scene, being the birthplace of numerous respected painters and artists. The city is home to over 80 museums that showcase its rich history and culture in the form of artefacts and various other items that are on display. When visiting Brussels, travellers must not miss out on the local chocolate, which is a must-try!

The main airport in Brussels is the Brussels Airport - also known as the Brussels National or Zaventem. The Brussels Airport is located about 10 kilometres towards the northeast of Brussels and is amongst one of the busiest airports in the European continent. It offers all its facilities at one terminal, under a single roof and provides travellers with numerous shops, restaurants as well as prayer facilities for Muslim travellers.
