Kuching is the proud capital of the Malaysian State of Sarwak. Located on the island of Borneo, it is the largest city on the island and a beautiful city to spend a vacation in. In the past, the city served as the main destination and the administrative hub of the White Rajahs of the state, but today it is a modern city with a lovely atmosphere and several wonderful attractions. There are a number of Muslim-friendly facilities in Kuching. There is also a lot to see and do in Kuching and travellers can spend several days exploring the city and its surrounding areas. Whether one is interested in history, heritage or in nature, there are several things that can keep one occupied throughout their stay in the city.

The museums are the main draw for those visiting Kuching. The Sarawak Islamic Museum is a must-visit attraction, as it features several Islamic exhibits, including an imitation of the sword used by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Sarwak Museum and the Chinese History Museum are other must-visit museums in Kuching.

The Kuching Waterfront is a wonderful place to spend some family time. There are several cafes and kiosks lined along the waterfront and visitors can enjoy mesmerizing views from the area. The Astana or the palace is the residence of the present Head of State of Sarwak. Visitors can take cruises and enjoy kayaking in the Sarwak River. There are several deserted caves around Kuching that can be easily visited.

Kuching also is a good place for shopping. The Main Bazaar is the most happening shopping destination in the city; it is located along the Kuching Waterfront. There are also several modern shopping centers in Kuching like the Plaza Merdeka, Boulevard Mall, Kuching Sentral, Sarawak Plaza, Riverside Shopping Complex, Tun Jugah, etc.

Kuching is served by the Kuching International Airport. The airport is located about 20 minutes from the Kuching city center. Visitors can take taxis from the airport to the city. A one-way taxi ride costs around RM26. There is also a bus service available from the airport to the city center.
