Kuching is the proud capital of the Malaysian State of Sarwak. It is the largest city on the island of Borneo and a lovely place to visit when on vacation.

Kuching is the ideal starting point for day trips to isolated coastline and rainforest areas because it is so close to national parks. It continues to serve as a gateway to the ocean and the jungle.

The city was once the White Rajahs of the state's primary location and administrative center, but it is now a contemporary city with a pleasant ambiance and a number of wonderful attractions. In Kuching, there are several amenities that are welcoming to Muslims. Travelers can spend several days visiting Kuching and its surroundings because there is so much to see and do there. There are many activities that can keep one busy when visiting the city, regardless of whether they have an interest in nature, history, or heritage.

The city is small and easy to navigate on foot. It has lively, narrow alleys with traditional wooden houses on stilts, colonial-era buildings, and stores selling a wide variety of unique curios.

 

The biggest attraction for tourists in Kuching is the museums. A must-see sight in Sarawak is the Islamic Museum, which houses a variety of Islamic artifacts, including a replica of the Prophet Muhammad's sword (PBUH). Other must-see attractions in Kuching include the Sarwak Museum and the Chinese History Museum.

 

The Kuching Waterfront is a great area to hang out with the family. Visitors can take in the captivating views from any of the cafes and kiosks that are dotted along the riverfront. The current Head of State of Sarwak resides at the Astana, or palace. In the Sarwak River, visitors can go on cruises and kayak. Around Kuching, there are a number of derelict caverns that are accessible.

 

Kuching is a great location for shopping as well. The Main Bazaar, which is situated along the Kuching Waterfront, is the city's most popular retail area. Additionally, Kuching is home to a number of cutting-edge commercial malls, including Plaza Merdeka, Boulevard Mall, Kuching Sentral, Sarawak Plaza, Riverside Shopping Complex, Tun Jugah, etc.

Nearby Airports

Kuching is served by the Kuching International Airport. It caters to the entire southwestern region of Sarawak, Malaysia.


The airport is located about 20 minutes from the Kuching city center.

 

Visitors can take taxis from the airport to the city. A one-way taxi ride costs around RM26. There is also a bus service available from the airport to the city center.
