Marseille is a beautiful port city rich in history and culture. The city was settled in the 600 BC and since then it has been home to several thousands of people. The Vieux Port is where the maritime heritage of the city can be seen. All along the coast of Marseille there are roads and cycling paths that can be traversed easily to enjoy the beautiful views of the seascape. A walk through the Boulevard Longchamp and a visit to the Palais Longchamp is recommended.
There are a number of interesting museums across Marseille that are good to visit. Some of these museums include Musée des Docks romains and the Musée d'Archéologie méditerranéenne which have a variety of archeological artefacts. A walk along the corniche gives visitors a view of sea. The Place Castellane is located around a grand fountain and is quite lively with all the cafes in the surroundings. The Parc Borély is a huge park located just 300 meters from the sea.
Shopping is one of the best activities that visitors can enjoy in Marseille. Some of the major shopping streets in the city include the rue Paradis, rue de Rome and the rue Saint Ferréol. The city also has numerous shopping centers like the Centre Bourse which is located behind the Old Port.

Marseille is served by the Marseille-Provence International Airport. The airport is located about 30 Km from the city center. Buses and taxis are available easily from the airport to the city. From the airport it takes about 30 minutes to reach the city.
