Description

Porto is one of the main cities of Portugal and also the capital of the northern region. The city is an important industrial and commercial center. Porto is spread along the hills and overlooks the Douro river estuary. For Muslim visitors, there are quite a number of mosques and Halal restaurants in Porto.

Porto is portrayed as one of the most romantic cities in Portugal. The historic center of Ribeira is one of the best destinations to visit in Porto. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features rural-style plazas and old houses. Visitors can also enjoy a boat ride or cruise along the river. The city center or Baixa has several markets and shops where visitors can enjoy shopping and walk around the area to absorb the city.

The Centro Portugues de Fotografia or the Portuguese Photography Museum is located in the city center and is a wonderful place to visit. The Pavilhao Rosa Mota is a wonderful pavilion with beautiful gardens that are good to walk around. The MuseuRomantico is a beautiful house that is good to visit. The Fundacao de Serralvesis a modern art museum that is housed in a beautiful building surrounded by gardens.

Porto offers some wonderful shopping. The Mercado do Bolhao is a great place for shopping where visitors can find great handicraft stores. Santa Catarina street and Cedofeita street are also good for shopping. There are also some good shopping centers in Porto such as Norte Shopping, ParqueNascente, Arrabida Shopping, Gaia Shopping, and Mar Shopping.

Nearby Airports

Porto is served by the Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport which is located about 15 km from the city center. There is a metro line that connects the airport to the city center. From outside the airport, there are buses connecting the airport to the city. A one-way ticket by Aerobus costs 4 Euros. Taxis are also available from the airport to the city.
