The Sultan Abu Bakar Masjid located on a hill top is an excellent example of neo-classical Western and Islamic architecture. This masjid is known as one of the most beautiful mosques in the entire region of Malaysia.
Johor Bahru also offers a wide range of natural attractions including theDanga Bay, Taman Merdeka, Johor Bahru Zoo and the Orchid Valley. There are several PADI diving centres in Johor Bahru that offer crash courses in scuba diving. Get certified by one of these centres and explore the natural beauty under water. There are several architectural wonders too that interest visitors. The Istana Bukit Serene is the official residence of the Sultan of Johar and a building worth seeing. The Sultan Abu Bakar Royal Palace Museum and the Johor Bahru Art Gallery are especially worth visiting because of its prized artefacts and Islamic art and calligraphy.
The city is dotted throughout with splendid shopping malls and markets. The nearest airport to Johor Bahru is the Senai International Airport. The airport is located about 28 Km from the city centre. The airport caters to domestic as well as international flights to Indonesia. Buses are conveniently available from the airport to the city. The one-way ticket cost by Causeway Link Express is around RM 8. SPS Coach operated buses charge RM 4 for one way ticket. Apart from buses, taxis are also available from the airport to the city; taxis usually cost RM 45.
